Peek-a-boo rainbow nail art tutorial with Misa Nail Lacquer

Strike the perfect balance of bright and dark colours with our peek-a-boo rainbow nail art tutorial. Even when the sun is shining, vertical stripes in bright hues can be too bright for some people. We’re going to show you how less can be more with “Rainbow Kisses.” Take out your handy scotch tape; you’ll need it to create this nail art design.

What you’ll need to create this look:

* Misa base coat, “Inseparable”
* Misa “Sexy Back”
* Misa “Six Pack Summer”
* Misa “Hanging With the Girls”
* Misa “The Grass is Greener on my Side”
* Misa “Girls Night Out”
* Misa “Blue Over a Boy”
* Misa “I Will Survive”
* Misa top coat, “Toptopper”
* Scotch Tape

Step 1: Apply a layer of “Inseparable” base coat to strengthen nails and prevent staining. Paint a thin vertical line on your nails with “Sexy Back,” “Six Pack Summer,” “Hanging With the Girls,” “The Grass is Greener on my Side,” “Girls Night Out” and “Blue Over a Boy.”

Step 2: Once polish is completely dry, cut out two thin pieces of scotch tape and apply them diagonally across the tips of your dry nails. The thickness of each piece depends on how much you want the bright lacquers to show.

Step 3: Add two coats of “I Will Survive” over nails. Ensure that you don’t lift the scotch tape when painting over your nails. Gently remove the scotch tape to reveal two rainbow lines. Maintain colour vitality and add shine with “Toptopper” top coat.

You could opt for “Heaven White” to create a lighter contrast instead of applying a black top colour. And you can try to create an ombre colour scheme in shades of blue, purple, pink or green.

Splatter nail art tutorial with Misa Nail Lacquer

This nail art technique does not require a steady hand, straight lines or have a “defined” final look. Paint outside the lines—literally—and unleash your inner ‘80s with this splatter design, “Graffiti Splash.” It’s fun, we promise. Don’t forget to cover up your cuticles, this could get messy.

What you’ll need to create this look:

* Misa base coat, “Inseparable”
* Misa “Heaven White”
* Misa “I Will Survive”
* Misa “The Grass is Greener on my Side”
* Misa “Our Song”
* Misa top coat, “Toptopper”
* Five or six coffee stir sticks or straws
* Scotch Tape

Step 1: Apply a layer of “Inseparable” base coat to strengthen nails and make colours stick. Then, apply two coats of “Heaven White” to create a canvas that will make splattered polish stand out. Cover your cuticles and the surrounding skin around nails in scotch tape.

Step 2: Apply a small amount of “I Will Survive” on a sheet of paper and dip your stir stick into the polish. Blow into the straw’s clean end while aiming the dipped end at your dry white nails. Wait several minutes for polish to dry before completing process with “The Grass is Greener on my Side” and “Our Song.”

Step 3: Remove the scotch tap once your nails are completely dry and clean up any polish on cuticles with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover. Don’t forget to preserve your masterpiece by finishing this design with a top coat of “Toptopper.” It’s time to admire your work of art.

What I love most about this splatter nail art tutorial is that the results are unique and unpredictable. Two people can use the exact same colour combinations and their splatters will vary. Oh, and the fact that you don’t need a steady hand is appealing.

Create your own “Graffiti Splash,” and have some fun with Misa Nail Lacquer today!

Is your hair feeding on the right nutrition?

When it comes to achieving and maintaining healthy hair, hair products alone won’t suffice. The healthy, shiny hair you crave is not attainable solely with the help of hair care products, but is also greatly dependent on what you eat. If you eat healthy, your hair (and your body) will be healthy. Likewise, if you don’t eat well, the health of your hair (and your body) will reflect your poor diet. So whip out your pen and notepad and take note of the following nutrients your hair could be missing out on!

Green tea, walnuts and salmon

High in omega-3 fatty acids, these foods are rich in protein (the main component of your hair) and help to prevent a dry scalp while giving your hair that shine it deserves.

Milk, yogurt, cheese

These dairy products are rich in protein and calcium. Dairy foods will ensure strong and shiny hair.

Bright Fruits

Fruits such as strawberries, mangoes, kiwis, tomatoes, peaches, oranges are excellent sources of vitamin C. Vitamin C makes collagen and gives structure to your hair.

Bean, peas, carrots, cauliflower, soybeans, nuts, eggs, whole grains and other B-rich foods

B vitamins promote a healthy flow of blood and oxygen to your hair which means better growth and low rate of hair loss.

Dark green vegetables

Vegetables such as spinach and broccoli are excellent sources of vitamins A and C. These vitamins promote sebum production on your scalp, a natural hair conditioner.

Water

And last but not least, don’t forget to drink water- lots of it to keep your hair well hydrated.

Overall, a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy foods is key to healthy hair and body. Eat right so you can complement your beautiful, healthy physique with your luscious, healthy hair!

Video Tutorial on How to create the Sock Bun Look

Back by popular demand, this Sock Bun Look is a simple yet chic updo that can be achieved with the help of some strong hair ties, bobby pins and a sock. Watch the video demo below and be amazed just how easy it is to re-create this style!

This look works best on textured hair with little, to no flyaways. If you’re a victim of bothersome flyaways (like I am), apply hair wax prior to styling your hair to keep it tamed and out of the way. I recommend the Difi Heavy Wax or the AG Waxx Gloss Pomade.

To complete your sock bun look, spritz your bun with a shine serum for a shiny finish. I used Alterna Bamboo Luminous Shine Mist for its lightweight, mirror-shine results.

You can wear this look during the day or on a night out. This versatile look takes less than 10 minute to create. For a step-by-step tutorial in photos, click here to learn how you can create this look.
