Essie Winter 2011 Cocktail Bling Collection

There seems to be a common pattern in seasonal nail polish trends every year: in spring we see pastels, in summer we wear neon, the fall is dominated by sandy, dusty hues and we can always count on the winter months for deep darks. Essie’s Winter 2011 Cocktail Bling Collection isn’t very winter-y at all. Instead, these six crèmes are a little bit of every season (minus a summer neon). I’m not complaining. I’m not ready to accept that winter is among us, anyways.

We’ll begin our swatches with the first of two light pastel-like shades, Essie Bangle Jangle. This is a dusty lilac with blue undertones (which makes it different from Essie Lilacism). The formula is streak-free and gave me full-coverage in just one thick coat.

Essie Cocktail Bling, the inspiration for the Collection’s name, is a gorgeous bluish-grey / greyish-blue depending on your lighting. It’s one of those shades that you should give a second look too. Is it blue? Is it grey? It depends.

A beige nude, Essie Brooch the Subject reminds me of liquid foundation. If you’re looking for a stand out polish, this is most likely not for you. But, if you’re looking for a neutral, mannequin hand look, give Essie Brooch the Subject a try.

A winter collection would be incomplete without a dark, creamy red. Essie Size Matters, which refers to the size of diamonds, is the go-to colour for when it’s time for holiday party hopping. With Essie Size Matters, you can’t go wrong.

Essie School of Hard Rocks is a stunning green-based teal cream. It is quite dusty just like Essie’s Fall Collection, but has a Christmas tree green feeling to it.

Finally, I’m most excited for Essie Bobbing for Baubles, a rich navy. What I’m most excited about this shade is that you will not get it confused for black, which often happens with dark blues, greens and purples.
